Africa was a long time not really on the map in the contemporary art world. It changed a couple of years ago and finally, the continent is starting to get the attention it deserves.

Evidenced by the numerous recent “blockbusters” exhibitions (“Seydou Keïta” at the Grand Palais, “Malick Sidibé” and “Beauté Congo” at the Cartier Foundation, “Art/Africa” at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, …), the integration into the permanent collections of the most prestigious museums (MOMA in New York, Georges Pompidou museum and Cartier Foundation in Paris, TATE Modern in london…), the creation of dedicated art fairs (“1:54”, “AKAA”) and the popularity in auction sales (more information on this subject here: https://www.parisafrica.com/pages/why-investing-in-contemporary-african-art).

In 2005, we personally felt a significant artistic and aesthetic shock during the “Africa Remix” exhibition at the Pompidou Center in Paris: contemporary african art has become obvious for us.

Fascinated, we developed over time an expertise in this field and began to collect it. We now want to share more strongly with you our passion through this gallery.

Unlike their Western and Asian neighbors, great artists of contemporary african art are still accessible. With PARIS AFRICA GALLERY, our mission is to support these contemporary african artists who deserve to be seen and heard.

L’Afrique a longtemps été peu représentée dans le paysage de l’art contemporain. Cela a changé depuis quelques années et, aujourd’hui enfin, le continent commence à avoir l’attention qu’il mérite !

Contrairement à leurs voisins occidentaux et asiatiques, de grands artistes d’art contemporain Africain sont encore accessibles. Avec la GALERIE PARIS AFRICA, notre mission est de soutenir ces artistes contemporains africains qui méritent d’être vus et entendus.
