Collection: Amadou Seck

Born in 1950 in Dakar, Amadou Seck took courses at the National School of Arts in Dakar, from 1966 to 1974, "plastic research" section with Pierre Lods.

Close to Senghor, he often represented Senegalese artists abroad. After a very productive first period, Amadou Seck moved towards other activities, leaving painting aside.

From his dazzling period in the 1980s during which he painted very important works, exhibiting all around the world, he created large works on strong cardboard where he amalgamated pigments with earth and other composite materials where it represents figures with bulky heads on atrophied bodies. His paintings made with a palette knife also have a lot of presence!

Né en 1950 à Dakar, Amadou Seck  a suivi les cours de l'Ecole nationale des arts de Dakar, de 1966 à 1974, section "recherches plastiques" auprès de Pierre Lods. 

Proche de Senghor, il a souvent représenté les artistes sénégalais à l'étranger. Après une première période très productive, Amadou Seck s'est dirigé vers d'autres activités, laissant la peinture de côté. 

De sa période fulgurante dans les années 1980 au cours desquelles il a peint des oeuvres très importantes, exposant aux quatre coins du monde, il a réalisé de grandes oeuvres sur carton fort où il a amalgamé des pigments avec de la terre et autres matériaux composites où il représente des personnages aux têtes volumineuses sur un corps atrophié. Ses toiles réalisées au couteau ont également beaucoup de présence !
